With the season so nearly upon us things are beginning to take shape down in the Bay for the imminent summer season.

We’re looking forward to the Phoenix Restaurant and Bar opening up again for the year after a bit of revamp, some new menus and a new head chef. Looks like it’s going to be better than ever. They are opening on the 10th February from 6pm – a great opportunity to sample some of the new flavours and great beers on offer. We love the Phoenix as it’s such a community hub – always full of surfers with their tall surfing tales, and stunning views over the Bay – we’re certainly looking forward to spending some time out on their balcony this year.
On Saturday 11th in the evening they’ve got Bill (of golden burn) playing some sweet tunes – If you’ve not seen him play before he’s just brilliant, so make sure you pop along from 9pm onwards.

With valentines day around the corner too, it’s great to see a nice valentines dinner menu on offer. No better place to take you loved one for a fantastic meal. Check out their website www.phoenixwatergate.co.uk for all the latest.

We’ve been busy here at the lodge too getting all our preparations in place for our guests. We’ve got lots of days already full booked up for 2012 so we can’t stress enough how important it is to get your holiday pre booked. We’ve been busy revamping our rooms and giving them a lick of paint. The place is looking better than ever!

Looking forward to more of this in 2012....

Sorry it’s been a while since our last post on here. We’ve been busy revamping some of the lodge rooms with a lick of paint and some new furnishings. Going to be very swish for all our 2012 visitors. Over the past few weeks we’ve had bit of a stormy pattern in waves and weather – not really great for surfing on the open beaches around here and that wind has been whistling good and proper!

Things are looking on the up though with a calmer and milder day here today. Even the daffodils have started appearing in the garden so spring must be around the corner!

We’ve got lots to look forward to in 2012 so here’s just a sample of what you’ve got to look forward to – have your diaries to the ready….

Girls Only coaching Days at The O’Neill Surf Academy on the 1st and 2nd August. You can check out all the details HERE, and we’ll even be offering some super cheap accommodation packages for all participants.

Longboard coaching weekends are a permanent feature here at Watergate and there’s a lot of dates now available for 2012. We love these weekend are so much fun here at the lodge with such an amazing bunch of people. Aside from the surfing its a really great opportunity to grab a piece of this amazing lifestyle!

We’ve got another year of great live music – dates TBC very soon for our surf ‘n roots festival. It will be at the end of the summer and we’re looking forward to some more top bands here at Watergate Bay

We’re open over the Winter – Including Christmas and the New Year

In our opinion, winter here in Cornwall is a great time to visit. In general, silly season visitors have faded away, and we’re left with quiet beaches and you can head outdoors and enjoy beautiful walks all without the chaos of summer. Traffic is non existent, parking isn’t a problem ( its even free to park in many spots during the winter) and its so easy to get out and explore. Best of all you’ll find some great deals. Here at the Watergate Bay Surf Lodge we offer affordable accommodation at just £18p.p.p.n during the winter months. There’s still a whole host of great activities on offer too – The O’Neill Surf Academy are open 12 months of the year, and they’ll even come to meet you in the morning for your lesson here at the lodge. There’s also kiting, coasteering, rocky shore exploration and many other great activities for you to take part in.

It’s also a great time for visiting if you l’ve food. There’s lots of great local eateries that serve up some of the very best seasonal menus!

We’ve got a busy weekend ahead here at the Watergate Bay Surf Lodge with the arrival of the crew from the Royal Grammar School heading back down to visit us and The O’Neill Surf Academy for their school surfing trip! Fingers crossed for good weather and great wave!!!

With only a little way to go in raising money to replace the roof and to keep affordable accommodation available for surfings visiting the stunning beaches of Watergate Bay and Newquay, this year we’re proud to present our very first Surf ‘n’ Roots festival. Come and join us on the 10th September from 12noon onwards to enjoy the sounds of bands which include Wille and the Bandits, Golden Burn, Hip Route, Jonny Fenner and many many more!

After the success of last years ‘raising the roof’ party in which we raised a substantial amount towards the new roof, we’re looking to enjoy our surfing community at Watergate Bay’s hub of all things surfing and surf lifestyle. Come and join us ……..

Boardmasters surf and music festival at Watergate Bay this august

Sorry for the lack of posts on here recently – we have been super busy with our renovations at the surf lodge. We have now almost completed a total repaint of the outside of the building. Its looking great, and we can’t wait to get the new roof put on the place at the end of the summer.

If you’re heading down for the boardmasters Surf and Music Festival and looking for accommodation, we’re now FULLY BOOKED and can’t squeeze any more people in.

Forecasts predict a rainy weekend for the 2011 Run To The Sun event in Newquay

With the weekend nearly upon us, forecasters are predicting a rainy weekend for the Run To The Sun VW and Music festival in Newquay. With many people opting to camp at the festival site we know for certain that the rainy and windy conditions are going to make things a little tricky. If you’re planning on coming down for run to the sun and would like to stay indoors at our lodge ( only a couple minutes drive from the festival site) we have a few spaces left in our rooms. We also have some camping spaces left in our gardens which offer full use of our indoor toilet and bathroom facilities as well as our dining room. Free to come and go throughout the day as you please there’s no better place to stay then the Watergate Bay surf lodge at Cornwall’s premier surf destination!
